I need opinions on a lighting system I am looking at purchasing. The light system I am looking at is a 72" Aquaticlife T5 HO. I am looking for a good light system for a good price that will be able to give off nice lighting and will be able to keep anemones and possibly some corals. This is what the listing has for the lighting.
[*]
(4) 39W, 36 in. T5 HO Bulbs with 420/460nm output
[*]
(4) 39W, 36 in. T5 HO Bulbs with 700+nm output
(6) 1W LED lunar lights for night time viewing
The price of the lighting system I am looking at is $300. The light is brand new and i have checked out the same exact light with aquaticlife sellers and it retails for 549.99 plus shipping. I would like to hear your opinions about the lighting system. Thank You!
I'm not familiar with those lights (and I am no expert), below is what I have, and what I am basing my advice on. So take it with a grain of salt..... Except for being linked, it sounds like the same kind of output 2 units linked would have...so the lights you are looking at would be shy 2 bulbs to be enough for an anemone. $300.00 is a very good price, you could still have soft corals and LPS, but not SPS or the anemone..
I have spent a small fortune on lighting. The cheapest and most perfect lights I have found were the linkable T5HO. it links up to 3 units and each unit is $130.00. 2 units is enough for corals and the three you can keep even an anemone. They run cool and the bulbs won't break the bank. Each unit has 2X39w....however I have not found 72", the longest I have found is 48"
Oh and just an opinion, the best looking moonlights are the submerged ones. The ones I had on top got dusty and cooked because of the MH lighting I had. T5s don't get that hot so moonlights attached would be fine.
I hope I helped you a little
