I have a 90g fish only without lr. I'd like to add some rock but I'm hesitant to add it since I don't have a QT. I have a 210 that I'll be upgrading to in the future so I'd be able set up a qt then. But for now I'm running a magnum hot and an Aqua clear 500. I was going to add a wet dry with a skimmer but I'm wondering it I need a wet dry and could get away with just a good skimmer. I clean my filters weekly so no issues with trate build up. So is there a good skimmer capible if h.o.t that will be able to go into a sump when I upgrade? I was thinking of buying this stuff sized for the 210 so I won't need to upgrade later. I'm on a budget so I'd like to get the most bang for the buck without getting crazy. I had posted about the rapids pro wet dry with skimmer and top off but didn't get too much feed back. I felt that unit was a good all around system with the skimmer being marginal. But from all the post I've read it seems the prefered method is to buy everything seperate. I'm so confused,
I welcome all comments at this point. The parameters are good, the tank is cycled and I've got a a good bio load.

3:naso tang
4:koran angel
5:maroon clown
Thanks

so what are your your questions?? lol
I think i'll just tell you my thoughts...
1. you don't have to quarintine Live Rock...lol..
2. A skimmer alone should be fine... as long as you get a really good one. Where is your sump going to be?? My tank is irregular so I had to find a skimmer that fit in my sump that is actually in my tank.. Tunze makes good skimmers... check them out..
3. If you are getting a 210.. you can wait till the tank is cycled till you need to get the skimmer and/or UV sterilizer... When i started my tank... i didn't have a skimmer and my UV was turned off till it cycled...
good luck

The rock and QT are an issue if I need to treat the tank with copper. I already have the 210 I'm just not ready to swich over yet. I was going to get away from the canister filters for a wet dry set up but want to know if I'm going to run into trouble without? Or can I just continue with what I'm using and then just add a quality skimmer. When I change over to the 210 I'll have a qt tanks so I'll be able to have rock in the dt without needing the worry about treating with copper. I can't seem to get a consensus on which skimmer is the favorite. If I read 100 post I seem to get 100 different brands from $50 to $500 so I'm looking for opinions on two subjects. First do I need a wet dry for long term succes? Second whats the best options in a hot skimmer that can be later placed in a sump. Thanks

If you have no issues now with any parasites you shouldnt as long as you dont add any new fish. The Lr will help keep the water more stable and allow fish to hide at night living with less stress which in return will help fight off any possible issues.
Just make sure its 100% cured or will cause the tank to cycle and could kill everything.
