Hello everyone...If I could have your professional ( and highly respected ) opinions on this setup, I would be grateful...I'm anxious to get started and want to make sure I'll have enough filtration & such...for a 55 gal. FOWLS ( I cannot get LR where I live )So here it is:
(1) Emperor 400
(1) Prizm skimmer
(2) Maxi jet 1200
CSL smartlife PC 50/50 180 W
and, of course a bed of Live sand...
Do you think that will be enough? I was also considering the Amiracle W/D with sump...is it that much better than the emperor? Tx in advance for any help you can give...:)

three maxi-jet 1200's in a 55! that seems like overkill!! but i am not the expert just seems alittle odd to me.

Well, I do have an old penguin 660-R...does 170 gph. How about that with the 2 maxi jets? still overkill?

Not an easy answer here.
Once again, it really depends on your livestock and their needs. If you have FO, then 3 maxi's yes would probably be too much. If you have high current demanding corals, then 3 maxi's might not be enough.
I have 1 maxi 1200, 2 maxi 900's, and 1 maxi 600 in my 40 gal reef on a wavemaker. My high current loving corals are thriving.
Suffice to say, you do want good current in ANY tank. But there are no fast and easy answers to your specific needs. That you must figure out, and then supply as needed.

Yes, I will be doing FO for now ( till I get a little more experienced ) or till I catch the reefbug! :) Anyway, thanks for your input...I decided to go with the Emperor 400, Prizm skimmer, 2 maxijets and a Live sand bed...I'll keep my fish to a minimum for now and see how it goes...I'll upgrade as needed...Thanks again!
