Please help me with a decision. I found a nice 4 months used fish tank for sale for $1,000. Here is what is included in the package(pictures attached):
125 RR glass tank + stand (6 ft x 19 in x 55.5 in)
wet/dry filter (I think it's magnum 2)
Skimmer rated for 150g
2x Koralia powerheads
2x 36" T5 lights - I am not sure what brand, but each one has 2 white and two blue bulbs. White bulbs are 39w.
Live stock:
Over 100lbs of live rock
Some crushed coral mixed with live sand
Large Anemone
Large size corals (see pics)
Yellow tang
2xclowns
damsels (I will get rid of them)
...and some other small fish I don't really care for.
Let me know if this is a good deal? Ohh by the way how good T5 lights are? Will they support clams?
Thanks,
Dave

Get it!!!
ok that is a good deal imho. Just change some things like dont put the crushed coral back in, instead change it with (non live) aragonite sand.(make sure to rinse it out as much as possible before)
T5's are a step down from metal halide lighting. People say that if it has good individual reflectors that you can keep anything you want, such as clams.

Why non live sand? I have a fully stocked nano and I was thinking about adding my life sand to this tank.

well you can do that just dont add the crushed coral back into it.
Aragonite that isnt live wont cause a cycle. But if you have established live sand and you add a little at a time and wash the rocks off before placing them back in you shouldnt have a cycle either.
Either way all the sand will become live anyways.

I think there is too much flow on it. Unless these lights are not what it needs.

they could be old bulbs? If they are 1 1/2 years to 2 years old you will have to buy new bulbs for it. Either way it is a really good deal.

If I buy it I am planning on moving as much of his water as I can. So when I move everything should I wait before I transfer stuff from my nano? Why can't I live the crushed coral in there? There is a very thin layer of it. I am asking because I don't want to spend extra cash on sand right now.

Lights are only 4 months old just like everything else.

ok well a lot of people dont like crushed coral since it produces unwanted bacteria (im not really sure but some people can explain it all technically and thorough) but all i know is its a bad idea to have. Instead (non live) aragonite is cheap and if you put the rocks in first (i have 185 pounds in mine) (which you should add rock first then sand) then you would only need about 60 pounds of sand i think (thats all i needed.) and plus it will get live anyways.
If you have all his water and you have him take out his rock and put it in bags of his aquarium water. then i think you shouldnt have a cycle. as long as you dont add any live stuff that wasnt in there. I wouldnt add anything like live rock or live sand till a week or so. Unless you plan on keeping all the fish and corals in your tank then you can add it right away and see if you get a small cycle or not.

What if I will do this: put his and my live rock together with his and my corals + my live sand from my nano. I can always add more sand in the future right?

ok just be careful, like when mixing up(scooping in and out sand) will get a lot of gunk up which could lead to a cycle..
Same goes for rock.

T5 are great, but you're going to want at least twelve 39w individually reflected bulbs to keep whatever you wanted wherever you wanted.
Jump on the deal!
