i have a 20 gallon high tank 24x12x16.. and i'm thinking about putting a coralife aqualight pro unit over it.. 1x150W MH HQI 10K plus 2x65W PC actinics. that comes out to 14W per gallon, if it matters. i'm planning to hang the unit from the ceiling.. how many inches above the tank should it hang? is there any chance i might need a chiller? the weather here in santa cruz, ca rarely goes above 80F.
for circulation, i have a seio M820, 820gph, which comes out to ~40X turnover.. i actually have two of these units, but i thought 80X turnover would be too much for a 20G tank.. what does everyone else think about this?
i don't have any kind of mechanical filtration.. and i don't have a sump either. i only have a skimmer, an aquaC remora HOB w/ MJ1200.
other details.. 30lb LR, 2-3" LS bed, ro/di only, 5G weekly water change, 0 nitrates.. fish: pair of sebae clowns, yellow clown goby, 1 sexy shrimp, 1 big turbo snail, 10 nassarius vibex, 5 scarlet hermits, 5 mini brittle stars, a few shrooms, zoos, polyps, etc. system has been up for 9 months.. it's perfectly healthy in every way.
up until now, i had 130W PC lighting.. if i get the coralife aqualight pro MH, will this setup allow me to keep just about any kind of coral/anemone? any foreseeable bottlenecks?
