Yep
sponges are fine for seahorse tanks. I had a orange tree sponge in my reef tank. They are fussy eaters and need filter feeder foods.

Don't expose the tree sponge to any air though or it will eventually die...
Low light and High current...

Need lots of food in the water, but overall good sponges to have. I suggest checking up on Santa Montica's threads. He keeps a lot of NPS corals. Turf algae scrubbers are awesome on NPS coral tanks.

OK, thanks. I might order one next time. I am trying to add some color to my horse tank, and I thought something like that might work. Is there anything else (besides gorgonians..LOL) that anyone can recommend for a 54g 130watt sunpaq fl light, mod. flow...that can be with horses and is colorful...

True, and some bright ricordia's too...hmmm...I have a green ricordia, maybe I'll try one of those multi colored for the top rocks, but I still would like something more for them to hitch on so I can remove a couple of fake things I have in there.

And you can stick a few bunches of macro-algae in there, some greens and reds. I have macro-algae in various spots in the horse tank and the horses use it as one of their feeding dishes. I squirt the mysis shrimp into the plant and it holds it there for the horses to nibble on. If you tuck the macroalgae into the rockwork firmly enough the horses can hitch to it while they eat.

also you could find either some dead branching coral or small branching tonga and glue some zoas to it.
