Yes it is. You still will have some die off though just from it being out of water for 2 days. We have ordered twice from SWF.com to cycle two different tanks. We were pleased with the rock, although the pieces were not very big. Although the price on the uncured LR looks tempting....I have been at the LFS when they get a shipment in......the smell when they open the boxes makes me want gag. I could not have that smell in my den for even 15 minutes. HTH

What is in your main tank now? How long has it been up and running? Has it already cycled?
The LR will cause a small cycle, so if your main tank is already cycled you may want to put it in the QT.
We used this LR and damsels to cycle our tanks so I can't really tell you how much of an ammonia spike you would get just from the LR.
So much just depends on where you are in the process right now.

My tank has been up and running for over 2 years. There are only two fish, a maroon clown and a sailfin tang. I also have a sally lightfoot, two hermit crabs and one snail. I have by luck and by chance several featherdusters and a huge number of tiny sponges all over the place. I have a base of CC which is supporting a thriving bristleworm population. There is rock in my tank, and while two or three pieces started out as live, the rest of it is tufa, and I'm thinking about replacing this with LR. Oh yes, plentiful copepods all over the glass, so probably everywhere else as well.
I set up my reef tank using SWF.com live rock and live sand....the tank never cycled, and the rock never smelled. I don't know what other people's experiences with this rock has been, but I've been very happy. SWF.com says that their LR is 80% cured. True most pieces are not huge, put there is a variety of sizes and shapes and everything was covered with coraline. And, as I discovered within a few weeks of having the rock, there were many things that came with the rock. Including 3 species of macroalgae, tube worms, cowries, bristleworms, sponge, zoanthids, etc.
However, with fish in your tank, it may be advisible to leave the rock in a separate tank for a few days. You can add a piece at a time.

i have gotten two orders of live rock from swf.com and it is very nice rock. the peices in both of my orders were very big. we broke most of the rocks because they were so big. but the rock is the best rock i have seen.

What do you mean by big? How many pounds each? Big can be a relative thing. My tanks are 105 gallons. What they shipped would have been big in a 10-20 gallon tank. It was nice rock...just not what I ordered.
