I really wouldn't be surprised to find out he has either been dead or in US custody for a long time.
As long as the others think Obama is still in the game they won't take any action to set up new leadership.

I'm sure the AL Quaeda have already moved on if he is truly missing. Chances are, they know more about his whereabouts then the US does. There's no way he's in US custody, that would've been all over the news as 'Victory for the US, revenge for 9/11, etc..'.

Or, who knows? Maybe al kider would want the world to think obl is still alive so that their organization would not appear weak and leaderless.
