OT: Does anyone else have this problem?

This doesn't have anything to do with photography, but I know this form gets alot of viewers..
At least twice a week when I'm on board, I get any where from 25-150 windows opening, they just start poping open. I thought maybe it was something with my laptop, but my desk top does it too. It drives me completely NUTS!
Does anyone else have this problem. Does anyone happen to know why it does this? Thanks in advance! Lisa

It's from viewing all those ---- sites :D
Just joking. Some sites you visit use popups to support their site as they get money. Sometimes you get crap pushed to your computer in the way of cookies and files that you are not even aware have been put their. Another thing that falls inline with Spam and telemarketers as people who should taken out an flogged.
You can install a popup stopper which helps alot, but introduces it's own problems. Also seach for a program called ad-aware that will clean off spyware, cookies and files that can cause pop-ups. You have to run this thing like every week as they come right back as you surf. The worst is Gator. This thing is on my computer every time I check. I would personally like to shoot the SOB right between the eyes that came up with that one.
There are programs you can use to protect yourself realtime, but I've never tried them as I don't really have a huge problem with it. You usually have to pay for them and they figure out a way around them before you know it anyway.

I prefer spybot over ad-aware.....I liked ad-aware also though....just don't remove anything that a program may need to run. If you are not familiar with the spyware that sites put on your PC, you will be amazed how much tracking software and pop up programs you have.......should be illegal IMO.

Thanks guys, I do have a pop up blocker on both computers, it seems to work really good. The thing is, all the windows that open are SWF bb's, I thought it was a virus or something, but I don;t know. I ran my virus scann and it comes up clean...
Thanks again, Lisa

25-150 window openings not popups? Sounds like the virus I had a year ago. Well I mean the computer. You better do a scan quick!

Don't remember how we got rid of it. I think we downloaded something of the net from Norton (NOT SURE THOUGH). I do belive you got this from an e-mail. Is your virus scan up to date? If not you really should update your virus protection. There is a name for what you got. If I remeber I'll let you know.

Weird. I would download a current virus protection program. Mcafee has a free trial download. Not my favorite, but it is free to try or used to be. I use Norton myself and it has been fine.
Get the Ad-aware or spybot that sammy mentioned and try them anyway. I guarantee you have a ton of spyware on your PC if you have ever removed it.

Thanks again! I reran my virus scans on both computers, still shows nothing. Tangman, I just install Norton on all of the computers in the house, and I hate it! I like McAfee better. I had nothing but problems with Norton, so I took it off my laptop and desktop and went back with the McAfee. Maybe I was doing something wrong with it, but I just don't have the time or the energy to try and figure out what was wrong with it. Might try again one day, when life slows down a bit. Lisa

if they are vb type windows, go to start then run and type services.msc scroll down until you see "messenger" and stop then disable this. That will take care of it :)

Strange Lisa. I've never had any problems with Norton or McAffee either. I downloaded the spybot program that sammy suggested and I do like it better than Adaware. I found a ton of spyware on my PC as always  They come from my kid surfing most of the time.
Did you download spybot and try it? It's really easy to use and does appear to be very good.
