I'm entering a photo contest that only allows digital cams. The contest also prohibits any PS work. The photos must be RAW or untouched jpg's. This is what I want to submit. It is a pic of a piece of pine bark about the size of my pinky fingernail. (1" x 2") It was resting on the cement walk way to my home. The photo shows the detail of the cement grain as well as the pine bark.
I apreciate any and all comments...
:)
Here is a thumbnail and below is a link to the 3+ meg pic...

What kind of camera did you use to take that? I know that you probably can't retake the photo, but I think that B&W would make much more of a statement and have more of an artistic impact. That would be an easy alter in PS even though its "not allowed" I don't think that anyone would be able to tell.

Thank you for looking. I used a Cannon 300D. I guess I should have stated that only color shots with no PS work, including croping is allowed. They want untouched photos. Were you able to take a look at the original jpg at 100%? What I realy liked was the DOF and the contrast between the textures of the pine bark, the pine straw and the concreet grain. Again, thanks for looking!

A great camera for a fair price. I highly recomend it. I didn't feel like dropping $1500.00 for the 10D body. I'm not a prof. so $1000.00 for the 300D including a half way decent lens wasn't bad. I also bought a Sigma 50-255, (2) 500 meg CF, assorted filters and a bag at the same time. The total was abought $1600.00. More than most would spend but I figure that when I add up all the wasted money on bad shots using my film camera - I'll probably be ahead in the long run. :)
The pic of the pine bark was taken at about 2". I put the camera in manual focus mode, dialed all the way in and then proceeded to back away until it was in focus. The pic of "the woman" was just a quick snap in complete auto mode. I was working at my PC and turned around and she was there. I still think she is going to kill me in my sleep! :)
