No, it's not paint or a fabric. It's an illusion created by projecting the background to make it look like you're looking through the "cammoflage." I still think the effect is pretty cool, though.

Can you imagine how freakin' cool it would be to see a tank painted with that, whatever surface it is, and the tank had a camera on back and projector on the front or whatever. I personally would love to see it. I also think it's neat that they are going to possibly use this stuff to make airplane cockpit floors "see through" for easier landings. I guess I don't really know what they'll do with it, but it looks cool anyway. The biggest thing they ever use it for may be on halloween in haunted houses for all I know........we'll see I suppose.

LOL, sammy!! I like the idea of cockpit floor - they could paint them a light color and have the camera under the plane (or chopper) and the projection of the ground image on the floor. The pilots could see in "real time" how fast the ground is coming up to meet them! Probably NOT a good idea for the passenger compartment though ;)

That is the absolute coolest thing I have ever seen. I gotta get some of that... I think the passanger area would be cool too.. Imagine being able to see everything below. You would feel like superman flying.
I just had an idea off your idea! Let's do like microsoft and steal the idea from the creators, market it to the airlines, call it our own and get rich!

Personally, I too think it would be cool in the passenger comp. However - I've been on a few commercial flights where there were a few people freaked out about take-offs and landings that being able to see it would be worse!!! Oooooh - maybe they could have "visual" and "non-visual" sections like they used to have for smoking/non!?!?
