OT: Tadpole

My tadpole's began to change faster than i expected. I assumed they would be growing alot more and i already have two frogs now. (there like a centimeter long), pretty fun to watch though. However, once again i wasn't expecting this for a while so what do i feed them?
Also, it's a five gallone high tank, do i need to put them in something else like soemthing with a lid??? or will they have difficulties jumping out of the water? Do i need to give them somthing to stand on or are they good too?
Right now i have a book covering the circular openning... don't want to lose these black beauties... thnx again...

They will eat small crickets, small earth worms and such. You should get a lid on the tank and maybe move them to a 10 gallon. To set them up, build a rock pile or use drift wood so they can get out of the water. You may want to add a small heat lamp(like the old incadesent lights for fish tanks 15-25 watt) for a basking spot . I would also get some king of filteration running, they are rather messy critters. What king of frogs ?

no clue... i saved them from a teacher who was giving them away to a kid for his turtles... there from a pond in ct... so i dunno if they need heat but that's a good idea... there black and really kewl... small as of now... never seen a tadpole so small really...

oh, i have about a foot long tank, probably 2.5 gallon WITH a lid which i used to have fiddler crabs and a cray fish in... would that suffice for now... the problem isn't getting a ten gallon tank, it's buying a cheap hood...

That would probably work fine. If you keep the room they are in at least 75 + they would not need any sort of heat, but if it is cooler than that I would put a little on them.

hmmm, i'll probably move them into the smaller but healthier environemtn (tank) for them today... and i'll try to find some type of heat for them...
thanks for all your help. i just hope they don't grow too big...

Snakes'n'fish... i bought some crickets for it too eat... the guy said to TRY them but when i put them in the frogs are smaller than the crickets, lol... those are the smallest i can find. what else might they eat that i can get for them...

Take a peach or bananna , put it in a jar with a lid on it. Poke small holes in the lid. This will draw fruit flys. Catch them and add them to the tank. You can also buy wingless fruit flies at some pet stores. Try them, they should be small enough.
Btw the way , how big are these guys ?

hmmm, no luck. I'm not sure if they developed enough to show any characteristics. I"m trying to get hold of my friend's digital camera again and i'll post a pick. thnx for all the help.

snakes'n'fish.... would the fly trap do the same if i was to put a piece of banana INTO the tank??? This way the flies come down and the frogs can get them themselves??? what do u think, just a though...

all the info you have gotten so far is good
you may wish to check with your local fish and game office as in some states it is illegal to keep native spieces, the idea is to keep them in an enviroment as close to what they would have in the wild as possiable, that being said frogs in captivity need warmth at one end of tank(so they can get out of the heat if they need to) also do not use a heat rock, if they set on it they will get burned and not even know it, water to swim in but not too deep they make filters for this type of set up but you will still have to keep it clean and use a water treatment to remove all the chem and minuals to the water if your using tap water,a food source (if they are still swimming then i would offer small guppies or maybe brine shrimp when they get bigger you will need to exparament as you go, flies, crickets(they have crickets called pinheads and they are very small check with a local pet store, then they need land area(dont use bark it will
make the water nasty) sand, small gravel with a piece of driff wood ect. make sure it will work with the water in the tank, also when they begin to eat crikets you will need to add a power calcum on the food as they need this to keep their bones strong again check with a pet shop on this, good luck with this as little tab pols they are cute but they can become diffecult as frogs if you are not able to keep them in a good enviroment,and a screen top on top the tank is a must email me if you like kiddow77@yahoo i have alot of experience with these type of critters good luck
