I don't think so, it will be a cold day in hell before someone implants a chip in me.

Let's see if the ministers of this board check this thread. This is supposedly the mark of the beast and the beginning of the end.

You know its kinda funny that this topic should come up . . . .
I can guarentee that each and every single parent on this board and in the world for that matter would feel 110% in favor of such technology should their child turn up missing. There is so much to be gained from such technology that I would be willing to bet that in the future, this will be standard practice for all newborn infants . . . . if it is not already. How would anyone but the doctor and the gov. know?
Secondly, what about criminals? There are advantages in this realm as well. Never have to worry about prison breaks again. period as an example.
just some things to keep your gears rolling;)

There are all ready SF guys and a few of their support troops that have tracking devices under their skin...I bet they are very thankful for them...and I can think of one Seal that would rather of had that than having to light his NVG strobe. I guess I would gladly accept one, who cares about the biblical implications...it's not like somebodey went off all willy nilly and started a war in Babalon.

So what does a boring science fiction movie have to do with this discussion?? ;)
Also Justin - you are right - I'd have one implanted in both of my kids and I'd pay money for software that would allow me to trac them whereever they are - but there is no way I'd pay $50 a month for it ......

That doesn't happen until about midway after the rapture. We haven't had that yet so I think you pretty safe for right now.
I don't want it for any reason!!!!!!!! I'll take the risks on kids etc. Now if someone is going into a dangerous situation like the Seals or whatever and for their work they agree to temporarily have a device implanted, that's a different story.
It kind of scares me when I see signs that as a society we are buying into any of the the "Big Brother" concepts under whatever guise of safety and security they may be presented........

I have to admit that I am shocked to hear anyone say this abot their children, but I will bet that if your kids disappeared tonight without a trace and you once had the opportunity to do this, you would kick yourself.
Secondly, the whole big brother thing as described IMO is merely feelings from people left over from the communism era. What difference does it make if the government is able to track me down if they want to . . . OH NO! He's . . . He's . . . . HE'S TYPING ON HIS COMPUTER!!!!!!!
The only people that have to worry about the government "following" them are criminals. Besides . . . the amount of manpower, resources, and funding it would take to monitor EVERY person in society would simply not be a feasible situation.

The wierd guy down your street will track them also.
Smart chips aren't so smart.
Better clone a few of your kid's implants and feed them to their soccer team, so when the psycho comes after your radio beacon GPS tracked wonder kid, It just might have a chance.

A psycho doesnt need a smart chip to track kids . . . they do that on their own. :(
But a good point though

Criminals and hackers always come out with something better to get around it. Example the new kazaalite has a built in IP blocker so the RIAA can't even track down your IP address. Hackers are always one step ahead. If the hackers actually used there smarts in a legimate way they would probably be rolling in the dough.:p

Justin, if one of my kids disappeared without a trace there are many things I would kick myself for, the main one letting my child be in a situation alone where they could disappear without a trace but implanting a chip in them is not one of them.
I'm sorry but I don't remember there being a communism era in the US.
Only criminals worry about the government following them if we had a system like that? IMO you just answered my point about our society buying into that sort of thing by being told "it's for their own good"

Hmm next thing you know they will be re-writing history. Anyone remember the novel 1999??

Hey I specifically moved to a cozy little community that consists of one long street that ends in a cul-de-sac. We have a handful of weird guys on our street but we also have a cop and a highway patrolman.
BUT .... if some psycho wanted to stalk a child they would do it regardless of technology - they just replace one style of stalking for another ..... as wrassecal points out - if I let myself put my kid in a position to be stalked, abducted and to not know any better or have any street smarts then I'd kick myself for that as much as anything else!!

No but I remember 1984. I thought 1999 was a song by Prince:D They've been re-writing history since history began. I remember living in Tennesse and taking a history class where I thought the south was winning the civil war until the last page.
