Our latest addition to 29G FOWLR

We went out in search of corals for my 55 gallon all over Northeast Ohio today and were very discouraged, to say the least, to come home empty handed. I suggested that we stop at our LFS (3 mins from home) as my wife needed some more snails for her 29 gallon. We walked in to find that they had firefish on sale for $7.99 apiece, and decided to get one for her tank. To go along with the way that our day was going, they were out of them, though they did have a purple firefish for $39.99. Then, the lady that we usually deal with there came over and told us that she would give it to us for $7.99 (needless to say, we took it without any discussion). Here are some pictures of our latest addition (it is already making friends and eating)!!!

That's a great deal. I used to have one of those and she would tuck into the sand to sleep at night. I could see her in the sand from underneath the tank! I put some duct tape over the spot to give her privacy. (From the light in the sump/refugium.)

If we would have just went there instead of going all over NE Ohio, we would have had another good deal....a new 55 gallon aquarium for $55 (they were out of those as well
..my 55 downstairs was bought used and is all scratched up with algae filling in the scratches.

Here is a full tank pic. The first one is current, the second one is before adding any livestock. We hope to get better lighting and start turning it into a mini-reef in the near future! We have both been bitten by the saltwater bug, and there doesn't seem to be an end in sight (well, as far as teacher and social worker salaries take us!)

That's an awesome deal, congrats. Even after the day you described it's nice that there was something cool to come out of the day.

Yeah...after the day that we had (not to mention the waste of gas!), it was nice to end up with something so cool out of it. The clowns aren't quite sure what to think of it because the firefish has taken a liking to their side of the tank (where they host the power head attached to the skimmer
).
