I got this beautiful girl yesterday. No qt needed because the place I got it from already qt'd it. I put her in the tank last night, and she's out to feed already!

How much did she cost if you dont mind me asking?

around $50. Most leopards are much cheaper, but this one (I think) is prettier and I saw it eat at the store. It's always worth paying more for quality.

I feed her a paste made up of brine, mysis, bloodworms, formula 1 frozen, cyclopeeze, and zoe. I always read they need to be weened to frozen foods from live brine shrimp. Not the case with this one though.

That looks to me like you have either a spotted or a green mandarin off to the left in your first pic. Your live rock looks pretty undeveloped, have you had any problems with him? How long have you had him?

Your live rock looks pretty undeveloped,

That's not the best pic of my LR. I got in a battle with a yellow tang the day before and rotated all my base rock. I have almost 200 lbs. of rock in my tank. You can see pods night or day. I would only recommend a mandarin if you have had an established tank for a while. I've seen on other website "pods" for sale if you need a jumpstart.

You sound like you know what you're doing w/the pod eaters! A lot of folks don't realize that leopard wrasses need pods.
They're soooo pretty. I've avoided getting one a couple of times, despite how much I LOVE these wrasses. I have a much better pod population now, but I still am wary about getting a pod-eating fish. I had to take back a scooter and a mandarin before they died once because I just couldn't keep the pod population up. I'm still quite gun shy about these fish.

hey polar me to. I have a scooter and didn't know it was a pod eater, but mine also eats frozen food. I want a green mandarin and hopefully someday will have the pods for one. I might have enough pods, but I am still afraid to get a mandarin. I would hate to have to flush such a beautiful creature.
thanks,
Leopard
I love that wrasse. Leopard (hence the name), are my favorite wrasse, and sharks. I have heard they are hard to keep. Congrats on getting one that eats. He looks alot like my dragon wrass when it was a juvi.

Hey Goldenboy,
I have a true story for you.
I use to live in Hawaii. I have been a diver forever and have had an interest and have kept fish for even longer. Put all that together and you can figure I use to catch a lot of fish for the aquarium trade.
One day when I brought in my catch I tried to stir up some business, the folks didn't want my fish because they said that their LFS QT'd all their fish before sale. No need to argue with a true believer.
The point is that fish store was the same one that I sold most of my fish to, and I often saw them turn right around and sell those fish right after I brought them in.
The fact is, no fish store QT's fish unless they are obviously sick. It's a business and the longer they have their livestock sitting there, the more it cost them, especially if it dies.

This guy claims to qt all his $50+ fish. Now mind you it wasn't by itself. I know he had this one for at least two weeks, because I called before I made the trip. Regardless, it's a bad idea 99.9% of the time to put a fish in a display tank without qt, but with this particular species, I didn't think a bare qt tank would sustain it. She's doing great and it's been a week. She is still shy, and hides a lot in the sand throughout the day...
Also the majestic angel I bought from him I did qt, and it's also doing well.
