I filled up my 315g acrylic and the overflows are soooo loud. The tank has two 1 inch inlets down into my wet/dry and two 1inch returns. The tank is predrilled and has a over flow box measuring 8in wide x 36 high.
I have placed two 1inch pipes that are 2 1/2 feet talll that have drilled holes from the middle up so water can go in freely. I also slide sponges over top of them so no big pieces of gunk can go down into the wet/dry.
It sounds if some one is taking a LOUD shower in my living room!!!!
How can I mimimize the noise going dow n into my wet/dry?
Thanks

i looked into those mods, but found a much easier, cheaper, and ghetto way. the noise you hear, is it a slurping noise? look at your line going from the tank into the filter. does it pull and move? does the noise sound like air coming back up the line? or does does it sound like a waterfall? do you have a glass canopy on top? how high is your water level in the overflows?

I use the Durso standpipe as shown on the link. I really like it and there is almost no noise at all. The only trick is getting the air flow adjusted just right to keep the water level in the middle of the street-L. HTH

I placed a ball valve from the drain to the sump. Slightly closed the valve and boom, noise gone.
Good luck - Reeflooker
