Over Grown Hair Algae

i had this huge ball (about 3 inches by 3 1/2 inches) of green hair algae in my tank. I notice that none of my fish. (including tang) oick at it. when i woke up thismorning i noticed that half of it was floating and only a small portion was still stuck to the rock. should i remove it?? i have lots more algae in my tank.

remove as much as possible.

i had some real long hair alge growing and i pulled the long stuff out once i did that the snails went after the short stuff and cleaned it right up
