Overflow box for sump

Hey all
Ive been researching equpiment needed to run a sump and was looking at the CPR C550 over flow box. They say "We recomond the use of an Aqua Lifter pump with the CPR overflows for trouble free operation. Another alternative is to hook the bleed hose from the overflow to the air intake of a power head. This way the overflow will continue to wok if it drawes some air into it or in the event of a power failure it will restart."
Instead of buying the air pump, it would be fine to run the bleed hose to a powerhead I may be running in the sump? (Plan to use Koralia 1 powerheads in the DT).

I steer clear of the CPR overflows, they aren't very reliable hence the need for the aqualifter pump to keep them going. Also if you run a tube to a powerhead in the sump you will have a flood if the power goes out because it will draw a syphon from the DT and overflow the sump.
Look for U-tube style overflows, Eshopps are a good choice and one of the cheapest I have seen and as a bonus they are really well built.
Keep in mind the key to having a reliable HOB overflow is having the correct size return pump.
