hi everyone so this post is basically for anyone who has an overflow box with an aqualifter: lately my box has been losing suction and ive been having to suck on it to get the water flowing again. the water in the sump is at its normal levels so my water isnt low. i think the aqualifter might be a little too old. what are your opinions?

Even without the pump it shouldn't lose it's syphon unless air is somehow getting into it. Aqualifters are cheap so I'd say get another one and check to see if air bubbles or air from somewhere is somehow getting into the box and if so then try to elliminate that from happening. If you have the kind of box that has the U tubes make sure the ends are fully submerged.

It is...you can tell by the clear airline tube that is connected to the pvc, which is need to creat the syphon. Infact, all overflows work off of the same principles which require a syphon to be created. The only other way to get away from that is to have a drilled tank. Drilled tanks are much more reliable because there is no need for a syphon to be created to drain water from the tank.
