Overflow Hole

Has anybody attempted to drill an overflow hole AFTER you are set up? I've been living with a home made overflow for about 7 years and now an again like all over the wall overflows it stops, mabe a snail maby algie. I have a auto shutoff to prevent spills but always wanted a through the wall overflow. I have some glass drill bits and was contemplating draining some water and drilling a hole. Anybody tried it?

We drilled an already set up acryllic tank, but I think I'd be scared to drill a glass tank.

Make sure it is not tempered glass. the whole side of the tank will shatter like a windshield as soon as the bit touches it!! Seen it happen at the LFS

I beleive only the bottem is tempered glass, at least its supposed to be.

If you are not sure...Don't try it...especially on a tank that is already set up!
