Here's a pic of the other side. Doing my sump sunk into the counter in the utility room. Gets it up so its easier to work with.

Looks great, I would love to have the sump out and in a seperate room like that. Only prob is, I don't think you are going to get much flow through that piping, since there is not much gravity involved. Don't get me wrong, water will go through since it is a slight decline, but I wouldn't expect more than 500 GPH through that entire system.

There's about an 12" drop or so from the bulkheads to the 2" pipe. I expect more flow than 500gph,we'll see though. I plan on running a Supreme Mag Drive 1200. I know the flow will suffer a little, but the convenience of having the sump and refugium off the floor is worth the bit of flow loss to me. Guess we'll see once I get the pump going. I'll keep ya posted.

Pretty cool zeppelin !
I don't think you'll have any problem with the two 1" overflows and drainage.
If you do, or if you want an option, coming off the mag12, install a tee with 2 ball valves coming off the tee.
Connect the tee so the "straight-run-through" of the this tee is from pump to return line. This is where the bulk of the water will be going.
From this straight shot tee side valve - run your return plumbing to display..
From the other tee side valve - run a bypass back to the sump.
If you have too much flow, you can open the bypass valve and redirect some water back to an area of the sump.
You could also throttle back on the return line valve to increase or decrease flow up to the tank if necessary.
Either way - it's cheap and good back up plan.
Also - if you want to remove some water for water changes or whatever - you would now have this additional bypass line.
You can do all kinds of stuff once you have the bypass available.
A PVC union on the pump makes for easy removal and maintenance of the pump.
Just a thought ;)

Broomer, a 2nd "T" valve is a great idea. Definitely incorporate it. I'm going to put one "T" valve to control flow to the refugium side of the sump anyways. I am running a 15 gal sump. Will half that be OK for the sump and half for the refugium??

Got the sump working. A mag 7 really is just enough pump. Probably will go bigger later. Got the return valve full open and the overflows are keeping up no problem. I have incorporated two more valves into the return manifold, so far. One for the protein skimmer and one for the refugium. I'm sure I'll be adding one more for excess flow once I step up the pump. I plan on enclosing everything, but just rigged the rubbermaid lid for now. Here's a couple pics.

Well, got this sump pretty much done. The system handles a Mag 12 with the ball valve wide open so I'm pretty happy. Here are a few pics of the plumbing. There is a return for the tank, a line for the refugium, a line for the cross current protein skimmer, and a line to bleed any excess pressure (don't need this one for now). Now to add a little base rock to the tank and order my Live Rock.

I still need to edge the lids and put the hinges on, but here's kind of what it will look like with the lids in place.

LOL It really isn't hard, just time consuming. The plumbing is pretty straight forward. Pump the water into the lines and use an adjustment(ball valve) to control the flow to whatever you need. I put the main sump in, then sat back (with a couple Skyy Blues:D ) and thought about it. Where do I want things, and how do I need to setup the plumbing to make it work? Built the main plumbing manifold, added the refugium and protein skimmer, and plumbed the manifold to them and back for water return to the sump. Email me cfish@insight.rr.com if you have any questions. I'll be glad to help if I can. I'm pretty new at this. Thanks to Broomer for all the answers to questions I had. That and this board's topics helped allot!

Zeppelin; nice job man. Really appreciate the pictures. Helps us Plumbing Challenged folks better understand how all this stuff works.
Keep us up to date with the progress of the rest of your tank.

Thanks man. No problem. Folks on this site have helped me emensely to understand this filtering technique. Last time I was into Saltwater it was crushed coral and an undergravel filter. That was "THE ----!" These guys have really layed out the hows and whys of the overflow/sump/refugium/skimmer setup. My hat's off to Broomer5, especially!
The plumbing thing isn't that hard really. Just make sure you think it through before you start with the glue.:D I test fit almost everything before I glued any of it.
Glad I could help.
I plan on ordering my Live Rock this week or next. Haven't decided who to go with yet. Good prices on allot of sites in FLA right now. Just trying to determine who has the best quality/price. Adding some more base rock tonight. I am using "Tufa" rock for the base. I can only find it in Northern Ohio. It is VERY porous, and should make for some really nice stuff once the critters migrate to it.
