Overflow Question:

I want to add a sump to my 50gallon tank (mainly to increase the amount of water) I was thinking about a 30gallon sump. Well my tank did not come with an overflow and I do not know how to get the water to the sump (the best way). I thought about using powerheads to pump the water to the sump than an additional powerhead to pump the water back to the tank. However, I know firsthand that powerheads, even though the same model don't always have the same output so balancing two powerheads would be a challange. (I need to minimize all chances for the sump overflowing)!!!
Anyhelp/suggustions would be great

Hey Wallda,
If you're home for the holidays, there is a lfs in Oconomowoc that you can pick up an overflow/skimmer box at wholesale prices.
Then using the box and siphon, you've just got to time your pump in the sump to the siphon. I just did this myself 2 weeks ago and it works pretty well. I even left during Christmas for 3 days without a problem.
Give me a call at home if you'd like if you're in West Bend, and I can tell you about the LFS.... 338-7721....
Just got my cleanup crew yesterday......35 turbos and 25 left-handed crabs...pretty neat guys.....
Happy holidays, Ray
