Overflow

Lets say your overflow is rated for 1750gph and you end up using a smaller return pump of around 1100-1000 gph. Would this work as far as everything working OK and not having any flood problems, because you would think that the overflow will only drain whatever water the return pump is pumping back into the tank.
I know in the case of using a bigger pump you would flood your main tank but will anything happen when using a smaller pump other than having to add power heads for more turnover rate.....
I'm i right or wrong here....thanks

First of all congrats on having the longest location name I have seen on this board.

Second you are right, you will not have any overflow problems using a pump smaller than your overflow is rated. However let me tell you that if you do have a pump that is rated larger than your overflow you only have to put in a ball valve and throttle down the flow of your pump. No this will not harm your pump.
