overheated tank!

We went away over the 4th and had a friend come feed the fishies. We usually keep the tank at 80º, and have found that we need to keep the air on in the house to keep the tank from over heating so we left our air conditioner on (so that it would turn on if the air temp got below 76º). Unfortunately, due to massive thunderstorms and one quick power outage, the air conditioner turned off sometime over the weekend and our fish sitter didn't notice to turn it back on. When we got home the tank was at 94º!!! We did a 20% water change, which got the temp down to 88º within 1.5 hours and it slowly went back to normal from there. The mushrooms looked bad, but I hope everyone else will be fine. :(

if they're with you now they've probably made it through the worst part...just be sure to lower the temp slowly! sorry to hear about your trauma though!
