i am presently setting up a 135 gal. saltwater reef tank, and am in the last stages of cycling, however- the teperature of the water has gotten to be upwards of 86 degrees, which i understand is too high. i've disconnected the heater, in case it was malfunctioning, but it seems that the vho lighting units and pump motor are creating too much heat in the cabinetry and heating the tank. room temp is generally 78 or less. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Putting fans in the canopy will circulate air and will keep the tank a bit cooler. Also, removing the glass lids of the tank helps if you don't have any fish that are prone to jumping. How much lighting are you running? The more expensive, but more reliable way, is to invest in a chiller.
