Surface aggitation and water movement. So having power heads in your aquarium allows water movement and gas exchange on the surface of the water. Low gas exchange can cause lower PH levels (along with some other things) and higher temperatures. Some things to increase gas exchange in your tank is:
-have lots of water flow (ideally around 20 - 30 times turnover rate)
-not having a solid cover on your tank will also increase oxygen levels. It is advisable to use some type of cover so that fish don't jump out of your aquarium, something like egg crate (light difusser)
-pointing a power head at the surface of the water to aggitate the water, creating more gas exchange
-having the tank in an area with a lot of air movement, during the winter you really can't do much but during the summer opening a window in the tank room will help. YOu have to think, all the above will increase your oxygen levels, but they are all negated if you have enough oxygen in the room air
Hope this helps, i think overall you don't have much to worry about, water flow is probably the thing you need to focus on the most
