pocillopora?
Its a medium to higher light sps. If you treat it like an acro the color on it will be brilliant. For best results in color stick it under MH but it can live on PC or VHO. As far as placement it just depends on your light and the light its coming from. Try to match it with your tank at first and then move it up to where you want it. Some water flow is the other thing. It needs some but i'd say keep it mild or the polyps on it are fluttering.

I call it "Pock-ill-low-pore-ah" although the proper way (Per Borneman's "Aquarium Corals" (p. 213)) Pocillopra = poh-SILL-oh-POHR-ah.
From my experience, it's been a quick grower. I've had mine spawn once in my tank, I now have at keast 10 small Pocillopora Damicornis's growing around the tank (on powerheads, overflow, back glass, etc.) I've had best results with lower amounts of lighting. I first had mine under the radiums, where the coloration was bright green. Under the Ushio's, the color turned from green to dark red/brown. I keep mine under strong amounts of current at the top of the tank. I would say it's fairly easy-to-care for. I also agree that it should be kept under metal halides, which is where it does best. You wouldn't see good coloration or growth under flourecent lighting (VHO's, PC's, etc.)
If you wanted Small polyped scleractinians to be housed under flourecent lighting, I would recommend Hydnophora, some species of Montipora, Porites, Pavana and possibly a Seriatopora hystrix.

I disagree with the above posts in that it is not a high lighting sps. I had a frag of it that started out as a single stalk about the size of a cherry when open. Under 150w of VHO it has tripled in size in about a year. I too have had it spawn in my system. Now I do agree that it would grow MUCH quicker under halides, but it can be done under VHO.

Oh i know it can be grown under vho and pc's. Im not disputing that. For the best color results though halides do the trick. It just depends on the too many factors to be a set rule though in my opinion. So i cede your point
