The famous doctors site had a pair for sale in their "eye it and buy it" type section a week or two ago which is a good indication it can and has been done. Wether its Pictilis or Lyretail the answer is pretty much depends. Males are programmed to chase females. How much the female backs down if at all and how aggressive the male is going to be is anybody's guess until you put then in the tank and try it. the bigger the tank the more likely the success. Usually because of Pictilis size (up to 6" )and nature (one of the more aggressive anthias inline with bartetts and square spots) not to mention their expense its usually recommended to keep just one.
