Paly's reaching

They could be going for current or light.

I have a colony that have done this from the time they were in the LFS till now. Ive had every flow, and gone from the bottom of a PC lit tank to the top of a MH tank and they still are like that..
The only advice Ive ever gotten (dont know if I agree with it, but heres what was said...)
"palys can sometimes stretch upwards to compete with nearby corals"
so yeah, I dont know if it holds any truth but my palys grow like wildflower.. and they stick way up
Here, I just snapped a shot right now to show you mine. Its perfectly normal sometimes. Unexplainable though..

i had a frag of palys that were like that when i got them, i stuck them in a shallow tank and now they are short like normal.
I'll second that. I had a colony that gradually reached and then when I swapped out my bulbs they gradually came back to norm.
