panther eel

anybody heard of this type of eel? was at my lfs and they had this eel labled panther eel. it was black with white circles on the body then white stripes on the head. any info would be great. the guy at the lfs had never seen it before and that is all he knew lol. i tried google but came up empty

sounds like a tesse almost, or like a jeweled moray, maybe a snake spotted eel. tell us more bout the shape and maybe we can get a bettr idea on what it is

def not a tesse or a jeweled. it had a blck body with perfect white spots on it. then the head had a few white lines on it. it was only bout 5 inches long. the spots were big on it but the body was mostly black. the spots were like that of a jeweled, but then the head had thick whit lines on it, but again waqs mostly blck

nah i saw those the lines in the head were not connected almost like splahes then his body was 85% black with perfect white circles on it. kinda cool but i do not wanna bring home a loch ness monster. they get a lot of eels in and the guy who runs the department said he has never seen thses kind before. they got four in and somebody bought two of them. he said that it what the wholesaler labled them as. thanx for everyones help

tried to do that on my phone but it did not come out. the store is about an hour away rty to convince the wife to go tommorrow. i was hoping the next time i drove out there was to purchase it but hey what the heck thanx again everyone

Okay I did a search and found a panther eel. It is a brackish water eel.

thanx ryan that is it. actually a guy at -- found it as well. no wonder why i could not find it i was typing saltwater in my google search. may i ask where you found that? was there any info or just that pic

I just typed in panther eel under google and the first link that popped up was the one with the pic. There was no info on it, but I only looked at that link. Several other links popped up as well that may have info on them. Pretty cool lookin eel though.

yeah that worked ryan i was typing in panther eel saltwater i guess less is more lol. i have decided not to buy this not in fo info out there on this. thanx again for everyones help and if someone has had experience with these post here or email me BRETTSULLY1@AOL.COM. i would rather have someone that has kept these
