Alright guys and gals, gotta question for you all. It's about time for new bulbs, been about a year now, and have a question concerning PAR ratings. I currently have dual 250w hamilton 14k bulbs, and dual 96w pc actinic with magnetic ballasts. I have used the hamilton bulbs for the past 2 years that the tank has been up and running ( 120gal reef ) and absolutely love them.. They have a descent par rating, great color, and decent coral growth. I was just wondering if there was another bulb out there with a better PAR rating in the 13-15k color range that I could use that would benefit the corals in my tank better than my current setup. I've done some research, and have found great info in regards to PAR ratings on 250w halides with various electronic ballasts but nothing done with magnetic.
Is there anyone out there who knows of another bulb just as good or better than the hamiltons I'm currently using with a magnetic ballast? Any help would be great, thanks for reading.
