Passed the ammonia spike...

My tank is in the middle of its cycling. I already passed the ammonia spike. The ammonia spiked all the way up to 8 ppm the other day. Today I checked and my ammonia is down, it's below 1 ppm now.
My questions are...
1. My ammonia will keep going down as the tank cycles, won't it?
2. I think I am experiencing nitrite spike. Is there such thing? It's 5 ppm. This will eventually go down, won't it?
3. I am noticing brownish orange stuff all over my tank. On the glass, and also on my lr. Is it algae? Is it a good sign?
4. If it is algae, I want to clean it. I want to put a clean up crew (cleaner shrimp, sally light foot and some snails) in there. Is it the right time? Will they survive the water condition?
Thanks for your help :) :) :)

I forgot to mention, my Ph is low. It's 7.4, what do I do? Should I just leave it and it will eventually go up, or should I add Ph up? Thanks again...

You well on your way. SeaChem makes a PH buffer that will help you PH issue. Your nitrites are a result of the bio diversity being created in your tank.
The microorganisms that consume ammonia multiply and the chemical denitrifying process of this is nitrite. What happens next is the microogramisms that consume nitrite bloom and your biofilter IS ALIVE.

Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy :D :D :D :D
Just a little bit more time, and I'll be done.
Btw you didn't answer my questions about the cleanup crew and the brownish orange stuff in my tank, can you help a bit more? :D
Thanks :) :) :)

I am using two fishes, lr and ls to cycle. I didn't intend to use the fishes. I thought that my tank has finished its cycle already that's why I put the fishes in. Anyway, SWF.com says that I can put clownfishes and damsels since the beginning. Well those are the two fishes I use and I'm planning to keep. I have one sebae clownfish and one yellow tail blue damsel. And also I speed up my cycle by putting biozyme in my tank, it works.
Thanks for the replies... :) :) :)
