I Just Bought a passer angel yesterday and and wow is he aggressive. I have a sohal tang a snowflake eel and a lion in there. I added him and the sohal and him went at it right from the get go. The sohal seemed to back down but the passer still seems to go at him. Soon after my lion came out and he went at him too. So I decided to take him out and put him in my HT for now. I only had him in there for about a hour. Should I have left him in there to see if it would settle down or will this never work?

Thats what I men't I have the passer in a quarantine tank right now.

So you put him in the main tank first????

Anyway...giving all the fish a new "territory" might work, I have heard of folks putting a new fish in at night as well. I hate adding new fish...my nerves can't handle it any better than the fish can...LOL

Yea I added him to the main first. I know not the best idea but when I get a new fish theres only so long I have till I can bring him back if things don't work. So I figured ill put him in to see what happens. I'm gonna try moving the landscape around and see if that helps. Thanks.

So I changed the landscape and turned off all the lights and put him back in. Seems to be doing the same thing as last time. How long do I let this go on for?

Took out the passer angel. LFS wouldn't take him back so now I have to try to find someone that wants one. Guess hell have to hang out in the QT till then.

Hanging out in the QT is a good thing...for like 3 to 4 weeks at least. But if the fish is sick whatever it has is now in your DT. You might try to GIVE the fish back to the LFS, they may not give you trade or your money back but they might take it off your hands so it won't die. Or force you to tie up your QT so you can't get another critter just keeping this fish in there you don't want

There both about 3-4 inches. I was thinking that myself neither seems to bother any fish lager or smaller. Maybe because there so close to the same size? The tank is a 125. I know what everyone is gonna say that the tank is too small for those two fish but I plan on building a larger tank when I move.

Yea, them being near the same size is likely your main issue. If you can swap the Passer out for a smaller one, it might be worth a try, but I wouldn't recommend trying a larger one, due to tank size restrictions. Best bet is probably to find a good home for the Passer, and try again after your move/new tank. Even then with a larger tank, it's no guarantee. These two fish are among the most aggressive in the hobby, and sometimes, there's just nothing that can be done, regardless of tank size.

Like AquaKnight said, I would look to give the Passer up. Your tank is really too small for these 2 potentially horrible fish to coexist. I have both in my 240, and frankly I've never even seen them pay the least bit of attention to each other. There is a tremendous size difference between the 8 inch Sohal and the 5 inch Passer, but there are also 3 fish between them in the pecking order which makes a difference too. My Passer is kind of nasty, but he's no threat to the Sohal, and they both know it.
