Yup. Preach intolerance and hatred and hide behind the guise of Jesus.
I dont know if that's a accurate description of what he said, however it was a very ignorant statement/claim he made.
I would hope a apology and a explanation will follow shortly.

Totally inaccurate description. Did you hear what he said or did someone on TV use those words to describe it? Don't answer that cause I really dont care but if it was indeed what you heard reported I would listen to his actual statement then re access the validity of that source.
What he said was really really stupid but hardly hateful or intolerant. In another time it would even be an interesting topic of religious conversation, even historical. But right now there was no excuse for him the bring it up.

Don't you get it, ANY time someone who claims to have Judeo-Christian beliefs, says something is wrong. It is hateful and intolerant.

Yes, I saw the actual video of him saying it, sans commentators/anchors. Yes, it was a dumb, retarded, ignorant statement; and yes it was also hateful, completely lacking in compassion, and intolerant of anyone who doesn't believe in his religion. You know, those who deal with the devil. If you aren't a person who lives and believes in his view of his religion, you are a friend of the devil's. Pat Robertson is a sad example of a human being, if I can even call him that.

Whatever you say. You know this guy is one of those crazy Christians, not your normal every day Christian.

I think we need your definition of hateful. A definition of intolerant as well....

Hateful - full of or expressing hate; malignant; malevolent: a hateful denunciatory speech.
Intolerant refers to an active refusal to allow others to have or put into practice beliefs different from one's own: intolerant in politics; intolerant of other customs
. To stand against someone else's beliefs based on that they are wrong and you are right.
The man is a bigot.
Just speaking what he spoke alone, while thousands of people lay dead through no fault of their own, makes him a hateful person with no compassion. Therefore, his statement can be considered hateful. Intolerant, because he made the statement based on him not agreeing with the way Haitians practice Christianity, and implying overall that they do not practice Christianity really, but worship the devil instead because the devil freed them. Really? A slave revolt was led by the Devil. I guess the slaveowners were led by Jesus. I really don't understand why you're asking for an explanation. It is not that difficult to see the man's a loon and a hateful loon at that. We know for a fact he's intolerant of gays. Just look up the statements he made after Katrina. Radical Christianity preaches intolerance every day. I've been to several churches where it is implied that anyone of any other faith will go to hell, and these churches weren't even crazy radical churches like the ones that have people babbling and pretending they're speaking in tounges.

It shows to me that he's clinically insane. How far off the beaten path do people need to get before they are sent to happy acres? If I had any say, I'd be driving him there now. I get so mad when people bastardize religion for their own benefit or for publicity's sake.
You know, from a Christian's perspective, the book of revelation talks about big earthquakes and tsunamis when the "end is near." For some Christians (half-way believing, non-authentic ones) the end times is a really scary thing... and it can haunt them, such to the point that they see every little thing and call it a "sign" of the end times. It can scare people so bad that they scramble to ANY OTHER theory so they don't have to accept the end-times theory, like this weirdo, Robertson.
But this was a theory just impossible to prove. Lets assume that by some crazy insane chance this theory was true. How would he EVER prove it? And how would he ever prove it to THE WORLD? This guy just needs to shut his mouth. He's making the rest of us look bad.

Actually, what happened in Hatti is a "blessing in disguise" because now all those old dilapidated buildings can be gotten rid of and replaced by better buildings.
Of course, hundreds of thousands are dead, but, hey, at least the Haitians have the opportunity to get rid of dilapidated buildings and rebuild.
I think this guy is senile actually.

Being Senile is the least of his problems.

I keep saying south texas needs a hurricane to sweep away all the old shacks and crap built since the last hurricane...
You know what is funny, when Rita was barrelling down, my Grandma said, you know what I hope? It hits NO again. They're already destroyed, another one isn't going to screw it up much more...

I also watched and saw nothing hateful. If you did I would have to assume you have a pre existing disposition to hate Robertson which fine but to say what he said showed hate toward the hatian people is too much of a stretch.

The guy has a dark ages sense of reality. To think that an entire people, and all of their descendants, are cursed because of an alleged pack with the devil 200 years ago is delusional.
To think that its a good thing that an earth quake happened so that old run down buildings can be gotten rid of is downright thoughtless and heartless. "A blessing in disguise". Come on, that is evilish. It smacks of a person who has much less regard for Haitians (black people) then other "worthy" people. There is hardly any other way to look at it.

An extreme example of looking for the silver lining.
I think the assessment of senility is the best description yet. Is it good that now Haiti will get better housing and eventually have much better living conditions? Yes but thats kinda like saying the young children of a poor couple received a blessing in disguise when they collected on their parent's life insurance policies.
