Can you use 96W bulbs in a PC setup that currently has 65w bulbs? My qusetion is are the fixtures only able to handle the wattage of the bulbs they come with?

I have upted the wattage on my PC's with no problem. Your light fixture should have a max watt rating labeled on it I believe.

I would recommend upping your ballast too, if you want to be safe. Putting 96w bulbs in a fixture with a ballast meant for 65w bulbs can = serious heat and potential disaster.

It's a ready made fixture not a retro fit kit, so I doubt I will be bale to change the ballast since I would need something that fits in the housing.

I have a similar question. If I open up my light so I can see the ballast is there an easy way to determine if it can handle more wattage?
