Woud 12 96 watts bulbs be enough to light a 220 with soft corals, zoos and mushrooms. The reason so many is because they would cover the lenght of the tank front to back. where most lights are only 10inches wide where my tank is 24inches wide.

You don't really need the lights to cover the entire width (front to back) of the tank. Reflectors help to spread the light, and not every inch of the tank will need to be lit anyway. Your proposed setup also doesn't sound very cost effective. Running and replacing all those bulbs will probably get very expensive. A good MH setup with just a few bulbs might make more sense in the long run.
