PC Smartlights or VHO

Has anyone tried the smartlight setup? A nice little pc light with actinic(?) blue on one side and regular on the other side of one bulb. Currently I have just the one 48" 55w NO and I want to add live rock and maybe soft corals, so I know I need to upgrade my light system. Or would I be better off getting a VHO setup? I'd like to reuse the fixture the light is in now if at all possible, it's the oceanic 75g. I need to save some money or the wife'll throw a fit.

IMO, I would go with a VHO setup. You get a little better control on the spectrum of light, lumen output is very respectable on VHO and there are alot of cool toys(dimmers especially)that cannot be done with other lighting systems. If my tank were bigger, I would have a VHO/MH combo. PC's are great lighting systems too and seem to work better on smaller tanks. The smartlites are what I use on my 33gal reef and my softies are doing great. You need the actinic for certain corals that have symbiotic algae to feed them. HTH--Bob
