I was going to get a couple peppermint shrimp since I have an aptasia problem. This website sells them 5 at a time. I only have a 39 gallon tank, and I was thinking 5 would be a bit much. but it also said they prefer to be kept in groups, os what do you guys think? would i be ok with just 2? or would 5 be ok in my tank? i also want a cleaner shrimp and a pistol shrimp. any potential problems?

5 would definately be too many if you are looking to add a cleaner down the road. 2 would be better IMO.
Peppermint and Clener shrimp are both Lysmata shrimp and there is a chance that they will not play nice together. That being said I have one of each in a 29 gallon Bio-Cube for about 3 months now and have not had a problem (yet?)

i bought 2 and within a week and a half they both jumped tank on me. i would go ahead and buy the 5 and see what happens. if you decide it is too much you can always trade them for something else with a local hobbyist.

I have 1 cleaner and 3 peppermints. No issues. My cleaner hangs at the top and the peppermints hang near the sand. They never interact.

I have a grp of 5 from SWF.com in a 42 gal. Hexagon. They are doing better than great. They go after anything (food wise) that falls to the bottom. They interact well with others in my tank ( Sally lightfoot, Emerald Crabs, assorted Hermits, snails, Fire and Diamond Gobies, and Clown Fish w/ BTA.
