peppermint shrimp and iodine???

I've been reading here and there about you have to give you pep shrimp iodine???
but some places say nothing about that!
and i read that when you put in new salt water it will boost up your iodine??
Do i have to test for it if i don't' plan on using it.. and why would i???

never heard anything about them and iodine i wouldnt even add it as long as your doing regular water changes your iodine will be ok

with regular water changes you should not need to dose unless you have lots-o-coral. even then you may not need to. they tend to molt more often when you dose iodine...may stress them out a bit... IMO don't dose if you are not testing for it, i dose but not too often
