I bought 2 peppermint shrimp abouta week ago. I put them in the tank and have not seen som much as a glimpse of them since. I have a cleaner shrimp in there that comes out and visits pretty often. Are these guys typically really shy or is it possible they got Gobbled.
Tank mates include
Red Sea Sailfin Tang
Koran Ange
Clarki Clown
Tomato Clown
3 Stripe Damsel
Clwon Goby
Hermit Crabs
Cleaner shrimp
Any ideas?

I also have two peppemint shrimp. They are fairly shy, but I always see them at dinner time when they come out to get the left-overs. (They wouldn't come out when I was around for the first 3-days) I'm not sure... :notsure:

Mine used to hide almost all the time except at night and occationally at feeding time. Then I got rid of my three striped damsel and suddenly they were almost always out and about, or atleast hanging out upside down under a rock.

I originally purchased 3 peppermint shrimp that I added to my tank while it was still cycling. They stayed out eating stuff ALL the time, even during the day. After the cycle I took my damsels out and put in a couple clowns and a coral beauty and the shrimp never came out except at night.
They are pretty hardy shrimp... my vote is they are in there.. but you wont see them until night time.

I had a Peppermint Shrimp several months ago. I only got one cuz I wanted to try it out and see how it did in my tank that at the time was only a few months old. I remember that it hid for about 5 or 6 days straight inside all the rockwork. After about a week it started coming out, and I was soon feeding it pieces of krill by hand. A few weeks later I added my last fish, a Valentini Puffah....and it coincided with the Shrimp for a week or 2, I actually saw it "pull up" for a clean-up a few times. But one day, I just happened to look over the tank, and at that very moment....all hell broke loose. I saw the shrimp swimming towards the top...legs and antennae eaten off, and the Puffer taking nips of it, and I even saw my Diamond Goby jump up and take a bite at it. Then my Tank Raised Maroon Clown even sped over for a bite! I thought it was ok, cuz nothing had happened for a few weeks, but the Peppermint Shrimp was soon dead and I scooped it out. I'm not so sure your specific fish would eat it, I would be willing to bet they are hiding. Give it some time and make sure some food drops to the bottom for 'em, drop feed to the bottom after the lights have been out for an hour or 2.

Of my five, I only typically see 3 at feeding time. But I know where the others hide, they just seem to be a bit more shy.
