I got a peppermint shrimp a few days ago and when he got into the tank he ran behind a rock and i haven't seen him since... He is really small...should i assume he is dead and let my hermits take care of him or is he probably alive but i just can't see him?

oh... i see... Hannibal is a small town north of Syracuse- on rt 104 of rt 3-- it's about 10 miles from oswego, 7 miles from fulton.... if you haven't ever been there-- don't worry- you are not missing much! :D

In answer to your question,....it could be that he's hiding, or fell victim to a predetor. I bought two pepermint shrimp, dumped them in my tank, and now I have just one. Don't know what happened to #2. But the one that I do have likes to hide behind rock. They are nocternal, so check your tank out with a flashlight, after the lights have been out for a while. There's a good chance he's still around!

ok thanks...not a big loss if he did fall victim to a hermit... i only have 3 but i guess they could have gotten him..although he seemed much faster than they are...

a couple of other things could have happened. i got a pair of skunk cleaners and withing a couple of days, my peppermint shrimps were gone (i'm assuming the cleaners were the culprit as i had had the peppermints for four months). also, stress may have played a part in your shrimp's demise...
