Peppermint shrimp or cleaner shrimp?

I bought a peppermint shrimp to take care of an aptasia in my tank and so far he is spending all his time cleaning my fish! Did I get the wrong type of shrimp or do they all clean the fish too? It is so cool to watch the fish hold still while he picks at them but I need that aptasia gone!

Peppermint shrimp will clean the fish as well. Does the shrimp have thin white lines or mostly red on the back with one white line down the middle?

He's mostly red. They sold him to me as a peppermint but I wasn't aware that they will also clean the fish...too cool!!

You got lucky, cleaner shrimp are usually 3 or 4 times more expensive than peps. Both are compatible even in small tanks if you want to get the pep shrimp too.

Mine never cleaned anything, but I didn't have them long before I whiped out my whole system

i got lucky cause i got 2 peppermint shrimp and they both clean the fish and even jump on my hand to clean as well when i'm cleaning the tank. they also have taken care of all the aiptasia in my tank as well.

Peppermint shrimp will eat aptasia when they're hungry, but they do clean as well. I personally would rather spend $5 on a shrimp that does both than $25 on a shrimp that only cleans.
