What is the best type of food for peppermint shrimp. How often should they be fed and in what quantitiy. I was looking at two small ones (maybe 1/2 inch in length each).

Mine eat like pigs....anything that sinks they will eat.
I use a mix of formula b, frozen seaweed, and an angel food made up of sponge. They run off with whatever they can grab.
Its fun to watch them grab pieces and run

I would say nothing, they are part of you cleanup crew and will scavange the tank for leftover food. So as long as you are feeding your fish you are feeding your shrimp and they don't require anymore than that.

Just focus in feeding your fish, the inverts are scavangers. They'll live.. they posses great surviving skills..
you want this janitors to work for u. Not u working for them. If you worry about feeding each invertebrate, you'll start having excess nutrients in water column. plus inverts feed on so many other food sources, detrius, fish poop, algea, zooplankton, and left overs when u feed your fish... ect..
But if feeding shrimp seperatly will give u a piece of mind, go ahead.. (they eat everything) ...just don't do it daily or so often that nutrients (nitrates)accumulation will take place...

Sometimes I feed my peppermint just cause I like how he takes it right from my hand, but I agree with the others don't worry about feeding them.
