I had a couple of tank-raised ocellaris that took to a carpet anenome after a couple of days. I guess I was lucky. Unfortunately, the carpet did not make it past 2 weeks. I am now trying again after 6 months and as soon as I placed it in the tank, the female took to it. I believe that if it has been introduced to an anenome and takes to it, it will take to another without hesitation. That's probably why wild caught tend to go to anenomes a lot better. I don't think they exist in nature without a host anenome.
