Percula clownfish?

I have been told and i am begining to belive it as i have been looking at every clown i have come across the easiest way to tell is this.
Look at their eyes. My false percs have orange rings around their Pupil. All of the true percs i have seen (or ones labled true percs in the LFS) do not have this their eyes are solid black.
Feel free to chime in if i am wrong this is based purely on my observation.

This may not help much but the percula clownfish generally has more black pigment on its body then the false

IMHO that is really subjective at best i will use https://www.saltwaterfish.com/site_11...ot_parent_id=4
from this site as an example. That is really not a concrete way to tell. These fish are deffinately osc.
Actually after posting i reread and i realised i have it backwards on my origional post. True percs have the orange and false percs have solid black eyes.

not a concrete way to tell but I don’t think many people would confuse that Amphiprion ocellaris you point to on your link with Amphiprion Percula so I stand by the more black pigment identification my info culled from ( marine fish guide by Tristan Lougher)

Yeah your probably right however my LFS has one marked black percula and it is deffinately a B&W osc (which is why i said its really subjective). I guess whatever works for you is the best way to go for you. Besides i really don't think there is that much of a difference they really do look almost exactly the same. how many people are going to be like "pfft thats a false perc what a sucky fish should have got a true perc." If they did that would be just about slap worthy.
