Perculas and maroons?

I have an 84 gallon fish only tank and I was wondering if I could mix percula clowns with maroon clowns? I was planning to get a pair of each. I know most clowns fight if you mix them, but I have heard perculas and maroons get along sometimes. Is this true? <img src="graemlins//confused.gif" border="0" alt="[confused]" />

I did not mention that my tank was 6 feet long with four sea anemones. Would this make a difference? (Plus 80 pounds LR.)

While it is not always advisable I tried it and they get along great. My tank is 240 gallons so that really helps. I also bought almost full sized percs (they are about 3 inches) and my maroons are about one inch and inch and a half. They get along fantastic and all 4 swim together. My maroons have become extremely aggressive to my baby gray angel but thats it.

that may just possibly make a difference, most of us aren't used to tanks that long, you could try, and keep an eye on them and if you see any signs of problems, move them, i don't know that i would try, but you may be able to get away with it in a tank that size(MAY), my one lfs has 4 different species in his display, which is a 715 gallon, but he does not advise that(he often does things jsut to prove it can be done), having 2 different hosts for them may help, ialso remember someone in ref discussion recently having 2 species sharing an anemone(he had pics too)

I had a perc and tomato in my 46 bow for a while and they were fine...they ignored each other. I took out the perc and got a gold stripe maroon. The tomato and maroon fight though...not too bad, but they fight. I'm waiting for one of them to take shelter in the elegance coral. Neither of them like the carpet anemone. It's a damn shame cause the carpet is huge and it would look cool to see a clown in there. Basically, I think every clown is different... I had two that were cool with each other, now i have two that are ok at best...I doubt they will kill each other but they are not best friends!
