It's kind of hard to answer a question like this because all tanks are different, and it takes some experience to know when enough is enough, or not enough!
Temp 78F for tropical tanks. Varying levels of temp for coldwater tanks and seahorse tanks.
salinity: 1.025 - depends on if it is fish only or reef. 1.025-1.026 is for reefs with ATO systems.
ammonia: 0ppm - no exceptions
Nitrite: 0ppm - no exceptions
Nitrate: 0.03-5ppm depending on what type of aquarium it is.
Phosphate: 0.03-0.05 depending on what type of aquarium it is.
calcium: 460ppm - depends on the corrosponding alkalinity. You have to balance the two in harmony. Keeping Ca above 420ppm is ideal.
alkalinity: 3.5mEQ/L or 10-10.5 dKH
Magnesium: 1350mg/L
pH: 8.2 (but it will vary from 7.8 to 8.2 during a day cycle and is nothing to get upset about)
Again, this is a tough question to answer because there are truly so many variables. You really have to know what critters you are going to keep and what your overall goals are in order to keep the parameters that they need.... not what we as humans think are "ideal."
