My PH at the end of lighting schedule is about 8.15 and 7.77 right before lights come on in the morning. What is causing this lower end PH? I think my PH problem is because its a new tank and also maybe excess CO2 in the room. Room is about 15 x 15 with central air conditioning, plus the door stays shut to this room. I tried to list all info below so that my question can be better answered.
I have a 10 aga which has been modified with as an all-in-one tank/sump.
There is 3 chambers in the back. The first chamber is the overflow which contains live rock rubble, the middle chamber contains about 5 inch live sand and chaeto, and the third chamber contains return pump (160gph). I am also using chemi pure elite.
I have 2 koralia nanos on each side (combine flow of 640 gph). I have both Koralias pointing at the surface so there is no lack in surface agitation. The tank itself will be 1 month old this Saturday 8/21/10. Tank was cycled with live rock from mature reef tank.
I have about 15lbs live rock in display section, no sand. Light above chaeto in back chamber is left on 24/7 instead of reverse light schedule. Lighting used over display is 2 24 watt T5 (blue plus and fiji purple).
Parameters
Temp 78.5
Salinity 1.025
PH 8.1 end of light schedule and 7.77 before lights come on. (tested with pinpoint monitor and salifert ph test kit)
Calcium 400 (salifert)
Alk 3.3 meq (salifert)
Magnesium 1270 (salifert)
Nitrate 0 (salifert)
Phosphate non detectable (tested with Elos test kit)
Thanks
