PH Help

I am going to be starting a 55-gallon with LR and LS. I am not really sure about PH yet. I am going to cycle with the LR and LS.
Do I need to adjust the PH when I put in the LR and LS or can it wait till after cycling is done?
How do you adjust the PH is there chemical that you use?
Can you just put the chemical straight into the tank?
How often should you check the PH?
Could you please elaborate more on the PH and what to do if the PH needs to be adjusted up or down.

Mine is 8.2 and has remained stable right from the beginning without having to mess with it. However, I'd like to refresh your question because I'm also curious and would to hear from the more experienced!:D

pH is a fairly complex topic to cover in a forum post. I suggest you search around and you will probably find some good info. If you are just starting your tank, then you should not really have to adjust your pH. Most good salt mixes will initially mix to a pH of 8.0-8.6. Over time in a closed system the pH will tend to fall. This can be counter-acted by dosing with different agents. pH is also closely tied to alkalinity...as I said too much for a forum post.

i brought my ph from 7.8 to 8.2 using seachem marine buffer, it worked well, and slowly enough my fish didn't seem stressed (took a couple weeks adding it 1-2 times a week)
