Hey, I tested my tank today, and my pH is still really high. It's a 8.5 and I want to bring it down some, but how do I do that? Thanks

Add a buffer to lower it. Do it slowly though...I use a Kent Marine product which works really well. Be sure to follow the directions on the jar.
Good luck!

I had a tank that the ph was high in for a few months. I don't like to add chemicals to lower ph, since most tanks have trouble keeping the ph up. I recommend you just wait about a month or so and the ph will probably come down on it's own. If it is a new tank, then I would definately wait. The biological processes will naturally make the ph drop over time. 8.5 is high, but not high enough to bother fish. It may cause problems for some inverts. Check the ph at the different times of day, because the ph will shift a lot. Try checking just after the lights come on, middle of the day, and evening. Ph will always fall at night. It is closely related to oxygen and CO2 in the water.
